Accies twins encourage fans to take part in Sport Relief

HAMILTON Accies have challenged football fans to lend their support to this year’s Sport Relief campaign.

Fans of the New Douglas Park club can wear their home and away strips and get sporty, have fun, and raise cash by entering the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile on Sunday.

But they will have to go further afield as Lanarkshire’s event, the Sweetie Brae Strathaven Park Mile at George Allen Park, is sold out!

The nearest alternative is the Glasgow Mile at Finnieston Quay, lasting from 10am-4pm. Entry is £5 for over-16s, £2 for under-16s, or £12 for a family of two adults and two children.

People can choose to do one, three or six miles, and fans are urged to show their true colours- together with the official Sport Relief socks, which just happen to be red and white!

Even if people don’t plan to run the mile, there will also be plenty of entertainment and activities on offer.

Sport Relief harnesses sport to change lives for the better, with all the cash raised helping to transform the lives of those in need across the UK and in the world’s poorest countries.

Hamilton star Flavio Paixao, who scored in Saturday’s 1-0 SPL win over St Mirren at New Douglas Park, said: “I am challenging all Accies fans to do your bit for Sport Relief.

“By taking part you will be raising cash to help people who live unimaginably tough lives every day.”
