A POPULAR Hamilton theatre group are celebrating their 21st year this month.
In celebration, Hamilton District Youth Theatre are performing two nights at the Hamilton Town House on March 19 and March 20.
The show, entitled The Rhythm of Life, will feature a selection of numbers from some of the group’s previous outings, including We Will Rock You and Annie, with some other favourites including Chicago, Wicked, Rent, Oliver and The Wizard Of Oz.
The show, which is directed by Edinburgh-based Steve Mann, will highlight the talents of the cream of the group’s talented youngsters.
Erin Duffy reprises the role of orphan Annie for a selection of songs from the musical of the same name.
Erin last played the role to sell-out audiences two years ago.
Katherine McCluskey, who played the Fairy Godmother in the group’s production of Cinderella last year, and Clare Ryan will perform Defying Gravity from Wicked, the hit Broadway and West End show.
Jude Ryan will host the event.
The Rhythm of Life follows on from the Hamilton District Youth Theatre’s successes last year, both at home and abroad.
Last year the group performed two successful shows in Toronto, Canada, and popular pantomime Cinderella.
The group, founded in 1989, have been entertaining Hamilton audiences since their first show, Haunted House, in December 1989.
Their first panto, Cinderella, was performed the following year in December 1990.
Since then, they have performed in Edinburgh, London, New Jersey, Ohio and Toronto.
Tickets for the anniversary show can be purchased from the Town House box office on 452299, and are priced £8 for adults and £6 for concessions.
