Cops hunt malicious firebugs who set a car alight in Blantyre

A PROBE has been launched after a car was deliberately set alight outside a home in Blantyre.

Police officers and firefighters went to an address in Auchinraith Terrace in the early hours of Monday morning after a Fiat Punto was set on fire. The incident took place at approximately 3.20am. The car was parked in the owner’s driveway at the time.

A police spokesman said this week that they are treating the incident as an act of wilful fireraising.

While they said said no accelerant was used in the attack, they described it as a “deliberate and malicious act”.

l A garden shed at a house in Nordic Avenue, Blantyre, was broken into between 8.30pm on Friday, March 5, and 9.30am on Saturday, March 6. A quad bike and a mini-motorbike, each worth a three-figure sum, were stolen. Witnesses should contact Blantyre Police Office.
