Developers guarantee to preserve site in Larkhall

DEVELOPERS have guaranteed to preserve and improve access to Morgan Glen as part of their proposed £55m retail, residential and mixed use development in Larkhall.

Muse Developments, who are behind the ambitious project, say residents will also be able to enjoy over four acres of woodland and communal ground for recreation and family pursuits, with the company agreeing to increase the amount of open space in the overall plan.

Further demonstrating the firm’s commitment to working with residents and groups to provide a viable plan of enhancements that will leave lasting benefits to the area, Muse recently met with members of the Friends of Morgan Glen to discuss ways to protect and improve accessibility to this beautiful area.

A positive meeting with SUSTRANS has also highlighted the transport group's enthusiasm to assist in the creation of a safe and convenient cycle path between the Park and Ride in Larkhall and Chatelherault, which will further enhance the opportunities for locals to get out and about and enjoy the surrounding countryside.

Bruce Lindsay, senior development surveyor at Muse Developments said: “We are working with the Friends of Morgan Glen and SUSTRANS to agree how we best provide an easily accessible route through the development, which will create a convenient link for residents and visitors to the glen.

“We have been continually encouraged by the level of input from the community on this development.”

Ann Rankin, secretary of Friends of Morgan Glen said: “I am pleased with the genuine interest Muse has shown in ensuring that improved access is not overlooked in their development plans. It is early days but I am already feeling more positive that residents and visitors alike will be able to take advantage of a number of enhancements that will see real benefits brought to the area.”
