A HILLHOUSE man pestered his ex-partner for sex through a range of text messages, a court heard this week.
Forty-four-year-old Kevin Law sent the messages over two days to his former partner last week, asking her for sex.
Appearing from custody at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday, Law, of Bellhaven Road, Hamilton, pleaded guilty to sending offensive, obscene and indecent text messages to Louisa Jenkinson between Thursday, February 11, and Friday, February 12.
Fiscal depute Jackie Spiers told the sheriff court that the complainer received seven text messages from around 3.20pm on Thursday from the accused.
She explained that Ms Jenkinson received a further six messages the following day, after which she contacted the police.
Police attended Law’s home, where he lives with his parents, and took him to Hamilton Police Office.
Officers later cautioned and charged Law, she said.
When asked by Sheriff John Miller to clarify the nature of the relationship between Law and the complainer, Ms Speirs confirmed that the pair had been together but had separated five months ago.
She also confirmed that the text messages were asking Ms Jenkinson for sex.
Defence solicitor Kenneth Greener said that his client made no excuses for his behaviour.
He said: “Mr Law has no recollection of the offence.
“It is true that he has an alcohol problem, and as a result, a mental health problem.
“He attends AA meetings, as he has had a problem with alcohol for many years now.
“A probation order may be of some assistance to him.
“He is 44-years-old, and currently resides with his parents, who support him.”
Sheriff Miller deferred sentence on Law until March 15 for a range of reports.
The accused was granted bail by the sheriff court in the meantime under the condition that he did not attempt to approach or contact Ms Jenkinson.
Law has a number of previous convictions that include assault, breach of the peace, assault to injury and road traffic offences, the court heard.
