A THUG from Motherwell has been jailed for a total of 10 months after admitted assaulting three police officers on two separate dates last month.
John Morris (30) pleaded guilty to assaulting constable Scott Pollock and striking him on the face with his forehead during an incident in Bellshill Road on January 16.
However, the Crown accepted Morris’s not guilty pleas to cycling while under the influence of drink or drugs, with no light and swerving across the road, causing motorists to take evasive action.
In another incident in Motherwell’s Brandon Parade South on January 22, Morris - of Airth Court - assaulted another two police officers.
He admitted assaulting constable Barbara Forsyth by kicking out at her.
He also admitted assaulting her a second time and repeatedly attempting to spit at her face.
Morris also assaulted constable Steven Harfield on this date by repeatedly kicking him on the body.
The thug has a list of previous convictions including breach of the peace, assault, theft, assault to injury and drugs offences.
At Hamilton Sheriff Court last week, Sheriff Douglas Brown sentenced Morris to four months’ imprisonment for the January 16 incident, and to a further six months for assaulting constables Forsyth and Harfield.
