POLICE were this week hunting a thief wearing a balaclava who made off with a CCTV hard drive from a popular pub in Larkhall.
The raider is believed to have burst into The Venue on Saturday at midnight while staff were clearing up for the night.
Staff answered a knock at the front door.
Thinking it was another worker wanting in, they opened the door and the intruder barged in.
He threatened the staff before making off with the CCTV hard drive.
The thief didn’t take anything else.
Police believe the suspect may have been involved in a distrubance earlier that night at the pub.
It’s believed that a few chairs and tables were knocked during the incident which happened shortly after 10pm.
It may have been filmed on the pub’s CCTV and the suspect went back to the premises to claim the evidence.
No-one was injured during the bizarre incident.
Now Inspector Andy Munro, of Larkhall Police office, has appealed for witnesses to come forward.
He said: “We are urging anyone who was in the premises at the time and knows who did this to contact the police or Crimestoppers.
“Any information at all which can help our inquiries, will be treated in the strictest of confidence.”
The suspect is described as 5ft 10ins tall, with black waist-length hair. He wore, dark gloves and a black balaclava.
Anyone with information on the incident should contact Larkhall Police office on 202300, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, where calls are free and anonymity can be maintained.
