Blantyre family involved in disturbance

THREE members of the same family have admitted their part in a disturbance in that resulted in a policeman being assaulted.

Kerry Ann Hutchison (37), Dominic Hutchison (17) and Sarah Hutchison (39) were all arrested in Parkville Drive on July 31 last year.

At Hamilton Sheriff Court, Kerry Ann and Sarah both admitted committing a breach of the peace at the former’s address by acting in a disorderly manner, shouting and swearing and struggling with police officers during the incident.

Dominic admitted assaulting police constable Thomas Liddell during the altercation by kicking him on the leg.

The 17-year-old also pleaded guilty to committing breach of the peace by shouting, swearing, spitting at officers and making threats while being taken in a police vehicle to Hamilton Police Office.

However, his not guilty plea to resisting arrest was accepted by the Crown.

Kerry Ann also pleaded not guilty to resisting arrest by struggling violently by lashing out with her arms and legs. This was also accepted by the Crown.

Sarah pleaded not guilty to attempting to rescue her sister from custody by pulling her away from cops as they tried to remove her from the house, which was also accepted.

All three have previous convictions.

Kerry Ann has been convicted of attempted fraud and reset, while Sarah has previous convictions for assault, attempted fraud and theft by finding.

Dominic has convictions for drugs and breach of the peace.

At court last Thursday, Sheriff Joyce Powrie fined Kerry Ann £300 and Sarah £240.

She deferred sentence on Dominic until today (Thursday) for a personal appearance of the accused. Bail was continued meantime.
