Chart-toppers JLS to play sell-out gig in Hamilton

TRIPLE Brit award nominees JLS are to make a return to Hamilton later this year – playing to a crowd that could reach 12,000.

The former X Factor finalists will perform at Hamilton Park Racecourse on Friday, July 23, in what will be the venue’s first-ever stand-alone music concert.

Following their spectacular performance at the racecourse last year, JLS released their debut single, Beat Again, which went to number one in the UK singles chart, and sold more than 100,000 copies.

The band then notched up a further UK number one with their second hit, Everybody in Love, and finished off their amazing year with two MOBO awards. Since the gig the boys have built on their already huge fanbase and organisers expect tickets for the new date to sell out fast.

Vivien Kyles, Chief Executive at Hamilton Park, told the Advertiser that booking JLS again was a “coup” for the venue and for the area.

She said: “Over the last two years our strategy has been to develop Hamilton Park as a venue and to show our capability of hosting high-profile events on non-racing days.

“For a band of this calibre to want to return to perform at Hamilton Park, it’s a massive boost for the racecourse and for Lanarkshire.”

She added: “More than 10,000 fans attended last year’s concert and with the crowd capacity set to be a lot higher this year we’ve repositioned the stage so that it’s opposite the main grandstand area.

“This allows us to not only increase the number of tickets available but to also create a natural concert venue.

“If this concert proves a success we will push on from there and aim to attract more big names and stage similar stand-alone events in the future.”

Tickets went on sale last Thursday on the Hamilton Park website and via Ticketmaster on 08444 999 990.

Price range from £25 per person to £110 for hospitality boxes within the grandstand
