COUNCIL tenants in Larkhall are being given a say on proposed rent increases for 2010/2011.
They are urged to go along to a meeting being organised by housing chiefs at Glengowan Primary School, Academy Street, Larkhall, at 7pm on Tuesday, January 26.
Officials from the council's housing and technical resources department took part in a tenants' seminar in September to explain the budgeting and rent-setting process. The event also gave tenants the chance to air their views on the matter.
At the seminar, tenants identified areas upon which they wanted further information then it was, subsequently, provided.
Participants also requested a tenants-led event to explore the subject further. This event was held at the start of December. It attracted over 60 tenants and tenants' representatives, and was attended by Jim Hayton, executive director of housing and technical resources; Patrick Murphy, head of support services; and Danny Lowe, housing investment manager.
Tenants and council staff judged the meeting to be a very worthwhile and productive contribution to the rent-setting process for 2010/11.
