New Community Trust Proposals for Strathaven.

PROPOSALS to create a community trust were among the topics discussed at the latest meeting of the Strathaven Town Group.

A presentation to the group was made by John Gold, Market Towns’ Initiative Project Officer at South Lanarkshire Council.

The project’s aim is to assist with community capacity development in Strathaven, which could result in the formation of a community trust, to develop, implement and manage community-led regeneration projects.

The town group were supportive of this idea being explored in more detail and it was agreed Adam's Community Trust (ACT) would investigate the issues and report back to the next meeting of the town group.

Other items heard by the group included planning already under way to ensure the success of this year's Strathaven Balloon Festival.

ACT advised that their project to upgrade the existing toddler play area in Strathaven Park was on schedule for a site start in January 2010 and should be completed within one month of the start date.

Strathaven Dynamo also provided an update on their proposals to develop a full-size third generation football pitch adjacent to Kirklandpark Primary School.
