FORMER Motherwell and Hearts winger Tommy Sloan has died, aged 84.
He passed away at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley on Wednesday, January 13.
Tommy is probably best-known as being part of the talented Motherwell Scottish Cup-winning team in season 1951-52, when the Fir Park side beat Dundee 4-0 in front of 136,274 people at Hampden Park.
Barrhead man Sloan started his career at Arthurlie, where he won a Scotland junior cap, before moving on to join Hearts in 1951.
After six years at Tynecastle he moved to Motherwell in a joint-transfer alongside team-mate Charlie Cox, and Sloan stayed with the Steelmen until 1957 when he was released.
Three years were spent at Gloucester City in England, before he made a return to Scotland to coach Arthurlie in 1960.
Tommy Sloan is survived by his wife Martha, son Michael and daughters Isobel, Frances and Susan, and grandchildren Robin and Nina.
