Face of 2010 runners-up
THIS year’s winners and runners-up of the Face of 2010 can look forward to enjoying a package of prizes worth thousands of pounds.
Second-placed winner Lora Hunter, who is studying an HNC in Social Sciences at Langside College, was delighted to have finished so high in the competition.
She said: “I was so nervous! It was a bit awkward in the limo as nobody knew each other, when we got talking we all got on really well though.
“I’m a bit disappointed not to have won, but Cheryl definitely deserved it, she really is such a lovely girl.”
Lora’s mum, Meriam Hunter, said: “I wasn’t really expecting it, but this is really great.
“This time last year, I was recovering from breast cancer and it was having quite an effect on my daughter, so for something like this to happen is great.
“I was just happy that she managed to get through to the final. I wasn’t bothered if she won or not but I'm delighted she has done so well.”
Taking third place was Kayleigh Hamilton, of Larkhall, who works as a receptionist in her dad’s tattoo parlour, Harry’s Ink, in the town.
The 18-year-old said: “The prizes are excellent and I feel great to have got through to this stage. I have had a lot of support from my dad’s customers and friends which has been fantastic.”
Kaleigh’s dad Harry said: “What a great competition. What a confidence boost it gives to these young people. It has been a great night and we have really enjoyed ourselves – the competition has been really well run this year.”
Last year’s winner, Suzanne Clark, who was one of the judges at the event, said: “It was a fantastic night, and all the girls were so lovely it was hard to make a decision.”
