Former Hamilton Academy pupils reunite

MORE than 60 former Hamilton Academy pupils recalled Sixties school days at a recent reunion.

The ex-pupils started at the Academy in 1961 and left in 1966 or 1967.

Many came from England for the get-together and one, Alistair Muir, travelled from Canada.

Best wishes to those assembled were also sent by a number of ex-pupils now living in Australia.

Those at the celebration, held at Hamilton Grammar, were joined by Academy teachers Tom Pattison, Marion Hunter, Ellen Wilson and Liz Leggate.

Buffet and drinks was followed by a film presentation and display of school artefacts.

Jean Gillan (Arthur), who along with pal Moray Kennedy (Campbell) organised the reunion.

“It was a lovely day,” said Jean. “I hope it will have helped re-kindle a few friendships.”
