A FIREWORKS spectacular will take place at Strathclyde Country Park on Sunday as part of the Homecoming Scotland St Andrews finale weekend celebrations.
Organisers hope 20,000 people will turn out to see Fireworx Scotland, Reaction Fireworks and Midnight Storm battle it out for the title of the Scottish Firework Champion.
The winners will then compete in the British Fireworks Championships, held on the Plymouth shoreline in August 2010.
As well as the firework championships, there will be a whole host of activities and family entertainment taking place along Strathclyde Loch, with guest appearances from Clyde 1’s Des McLean, Gina McKie and Gavin Pearson.
The event will start at 2.30pm with a number of live acts performing over six stages, including two main stages hosted by Radio Clyde.
Top girl tribute act the Kitty Kat Dolls, the Kennedy Cup Cakes, and tribal pipes and drums band Clanadonia are just a few of the names that have been lined up to entertain the crowds.
Topping the bill will be 2008 X Factor finalist and jazz/soul princess Laura White.
The Wee Willie Winkie fun walk will also take place around the loch in aid of St Andrew’s Hospice.
Participants, who should come dressed in their pyjamas, can take part by buying traditional lamps and fluorescent glow sticks when they arrive at the park to help raise funds for the charity.
They will join Des McLean, pipe bands and performers on a clockwise procession around the loch and it is hoped that their efforts will help raise over £10,000 for the hospice.
Leading Edge, the aerobatics display team, will also take to the skies from 2.30pm with a three-plane aerial display across the Lanarkshire skyline.
