A STRATHAVEN woman won a national competition celebrating real beauty.
Elizabeth Dyet (48) a farmer and housewife from Strathaven, has beaten thousands of women across the UK to have her top beauty tip published in a diary celebrating real women and beauty.
The Dove competition launched in ASDA stores nationwide earlier this year in April, forms part of the wider Dove Campaign for Real Beauty, a global effort designed to widen today's stereo-typical view of beauty by using images of real women in advertising.
To enter the competition, shoppers were asked to submit a beauty tip for the chance to take part in an all-expenses paid photoshoot and pampering day in London in September.
The images from the photoshoot will feature in the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty 2010 Diary available in December exclusively from the ASDA magazine, in selected ASDA stores and from www.ASDA.com.
Elizabeth was one of 21 women from across the UK, whose tips were selected to appear in the diary and take part in the photoshoot.
Elizabeth impressed judges with her winning tip of applying lotion onto a hot soaked flannel to keep skin moisturised, a tip she developed following an illness which left her skin dry.
Elizabeth said: “I was so happy to hear my tip was selected.
“ I never would have thought I would have the chance to appear in a Dove photoshoot.
“My family and friends are very proud and excited about seeing my tip and image appear in print.
"It was great to see women from all walks of life come together and share beauty tips.”
Dove customer marketing manager Hayley Plaskitt said: “We were inundated with so many entries and it was so hard to pick a winner, but we were looking for tips that were not only unique, but offered practical beauty advice that real women can easily incorporate into their daily lives.
"Overall we were really impressed with the creativity of the entries and hope the tips and images in the diary will inspire other women to think differently about their beauty regimes, and if they don't already have one maybe it will encourage them to start one from the diary as a New Year resolution."
ASDA Health and Beauty Marketing Manager Anna Coote, added: “ASDAcustomers are beauty junkies, they love to look good and they are experts at doing that on a budget, so they jumped at the chance when we asked to them to share their beauty tips.”
The photoshoot and pampering day was a great confidence boost to all the women, and Elizabeth was so delighted to be part of a national campaign that celebrates real women and beauty.
She added: “It was so different to my day-to-day routine and an amazing experience that I will never forget.”
