Hamilton hairdressers are in pink for charity

A HAMILTON hairdressing salon has raised more than £1000 for charity by holding a special beauty day for its customers.

Staff at Elaine Compton’s hair design in Muir Street, which also includes beautician Kelly McCluskey, staged the event for Cancer Research UK.

Around 65 clients had their hair and nails done, and the money charged for each treatment made a final total of £1085.

Elaine and Kelly with the salon staff, gave up their Sunday, day-off, to work for free.

Moira Ramsey, from Cancer Research UK, who helped organise the event last Sunday afternoon, was delighted to accept the money raised during the day.

Elaine said this week that family members and friends have suffered from some form of cancer and she wanted to do something to help.

Over the last few years she has raised money for the charity on several occasions by taking part in a number of events.

She said: “The salon has loyal and regular customers and I knew we would get a great response.”

“Kelly and I would like to thank Liz Kane of Botterill’s for donating the pink champagne, Ida Fionda for donating the baking, Moira Ramsey for helping to organise the event, the clients for donating, and Natalie Kane for helping with the nail treatments.”
