AN UDDINGSTON schoolboy has made it to the finals of a regional talent competition.
Peter Clark, a first-year pupil at Cardinal Newman High, won his school’s heat of Real Radio’s “Real Variety” talent show, which has been touring schools throughout Lanarkshire and Glasgow.
The 12-year-old singer and performer wowed the judges with his rendition of the Jackson Five’s smash hit ‘Rockin’ Robin’.
And now Peter is counting on votes from the public to secure his place in the Real Variety Show, which will be hosted at a venue in Glasgow later this year.
Peter, a member of Uddingston theatre group, Michelle Young Drama School, has performed in many shows, including Oliver and even developed his own Michael Jackson tribute Act. The youngster is up against 11 other acts from high schools around Lanarkshire and Glasgow.
Peter’s dad, local DJ and singer, Peter Snr, also known as ‘Spider’, said: “He was absolutely ecstatic and couldn’t believe that he had won. The talent at Cardinal Newman was outstanding and Peter was so pleased he was picked.”
The 44-year-old added: “My wife Bridgeen, my daughter Colleen, six, and I were all cheering him on, we are so proud of him.
“He has been singing and performing from the age of three and loves every minute of it, so we really hope he wins.”
The winning act with the most votes will get the chance to perform in front of thousands of people at a Glasgow venue. The winner will be chauffeured by limo to the event and back, and will also be treated to day at Wet,Wet,Wet star Graham Duffin’s recording studio.
