Special flag marks Armed Forces Day

FORCES veterans joined North Lanarkshire Council Provost Tom Curley and Lord Lieutenant of Lanarkshire Gilbert Cox to unveil a special flag ahead of Armed Forces Day. which took place on Saturday.

The ‘fly a flag for our armed forces' day helps North Lanarkshire communities recognise the challenges faced by service personnel all over the world. The flag helps to acknowledge their dedication and professionalism.

Provost Curley said: “I was extremely proud to unveil the special flag to honour our past, present and future servicemen and women.

“Some of our veterans travelled from as far afield as New Zealand to be at the special ceremony and I was delighted to welcome them to the flag-raising and civic function afterwards.

“North Lanarkshire is an area well known for its support of the armed services and those who attended the ceremony appreciated the opportunity to recognise the important contribution made by our armed forces.”
