Glassford’s 70th gala celebrated in true style

VILLAGERS and guests turned out in force for Glassford’s 70th gala day on Saturday.

The weather was mixed, with sunshine and rain, but it didn’t stop many people joining in the gala day fun.

This year saw the biggest representation of walking entries, with one street having a theme of “Back to 1939” and another street celebrating 70 years of comedy.

There was also a tea in the village school for past gala queens.

The main procession left Glassford Primary School and met up with the other floats to take the parade around the village.

Glassford Primary School pupil Lauren Young was crowned Gala Queen.

During the day, visitors enjoyed lots of fun and games, including a bouncy castle and slide.
