Gavin proves he’s a clear favourite in the food stakes

HAMILTON Park Racecourse’s catering and events manager Gavin Tiffin has scooped one of the highest accolades in the hospitality industry by winning an Acorn Award.

The Acorn Awards celebrates the top 30 hospitality professionals under the age of 30 and Gavin follows the likes of top celebrity chefs Marco Pierre White and Gary Rhodes, who have won the award in previous years.

The 23rd annual Acorn Awards took place recently in Gloucestershire.

Gavin (29) who is employed by Prestige Scotland, Hamilton Park’s on-site caterer, said: “This is a great achievement for me and for both Hamilton Park Racecourse and Prestige Scotland. I was speechless when I found out that I had won. I’m a people person and I never wanted to a nine-to-five job, so it’s a fantastic feeling to be given an award for doing a job that I love to do.”

Hoping to one day follow in Gavin’s footsteps is Laura Stratford who has recently joined Prestige Scotland’s team at Hamilton Park Racecourse as a sales executive.

Laura joins the company after completing a degree in events and entertainment management at Glasgow Caledonian University.
