Youth Theatre put the ‘Mac’ into musical for Canada trip

HAMILTON District Youth Theatre are travelling to Toronto, Canada on Friday, June 27.

The group are set to dazzle their Canadian audiences with their unique show MacMusical. The show is a musical review among other things, with extracts from Annie and We Will Rock You and Scottish ‘classics’.

A healthy dose of humour and satire of course accompanies any HDYT show, and this one is no different; featuring an uncanny Margaret Thatcher lookalike in the group’s rendition of the Queen classic ‘Killer Queen’ and even a send up of everyone’s favourite Scot of the minute, Susan Boyle.

This is a fantastic opportunity presented to the young people travelling with the group to export their unique brand of humour and theatre onto an unsuspecting Canada.

Contacts with a local Youth Theatre Group in Brampton, Canada, have been established to ensure a culturally rich trip and a chance for the youngsters to exchange ideas and experiences with like-minded people from another continent.

On their return the HDYT will be straight back into rehearsals for their forthcoming pantomime Cinderella in the Hamilton Town House, week beginning November 30.
