Man assaulted during fight after a wedding reception

POLICE were appealing for witnesses this week after a man was beaten up outside Dalziel Park hotel and conference centre, Motherwell, last Sunday.

The police say a fight broke out around 1am after guests left a wedding reception being held at the venue.

The 40-year-old victim was waiting outside with others who were getting on board buses when the fight broke out.

The man was kicked on his head and body.

He was taken to Monklands Hospital, Airdrie, where he was treated for a broken collarbone.

Meanwhile, police are appealing for witnesses to a separate and unrelated incident after a man was assaulted in Bellshill.

The incident took place around 3.05am last Saturday.

A 24-year-old man, who was among a group, walking along a path at Crossgates near to Hamilton Road, when a fight broke out after sectarian songs were sung.

Police say this resulted in the victim being punched on the face.

This caused him to fall backwards and strike his head off railings.

When police arrived the man was taken to Monklands Hospital, Airdrie, where he was treated for a four-inch cut to the top of his head.

The suspect is described as male, 5ft 10ins tall with short, shaven hair.

He was also wearing dark clothing.
