PUPILS from Hamilton Grammar School will be dressed for success in the new school term.
The school announced some improvements to their uniform policy starting from August this year.
Over recent terms, the school have been moving to a simpler and smarter approach and this transition has been supported by parents, staff and pupils in the school.
From August, 2009, the school’s dress code will be:
l Black footwear with separate trainers for PE.
l For S5-S6 (with the exception of those attending the pre-vocational Christmas leavers course), white shirt/blouse with school tie and blazer.
l Pupils in S1-S4 are free to wear the existing uniform, options (white shirt/blouse, sweat top or polo shirt) for one more session, but parents and carers are encouraged to consider buying the shirt/blouse and blazer option.
l Plain dark jacket or coat for over the blazer.
l Black skirts or trousers, and for girls there is the option of a tartan skirt.
From August next year, sweat shirts and polo tops will be discontinued to move all pupils in line with the smarter and more established school appearance.
The school have consulted closely with Alston's, the local uniform stockist, in Quarry Street, Hamilton.
The blazers are navy blue and feature the school badge in green.
Braid will be available for prefects. The blazers are polyester, which are easily cleaned and very reasonably priced.
Ordered from Alston's the cost will be in the range of £22 to £28 depending on size.
The school say they are very aware of cost implication of uniform for families, especially in the current economic climate.
White shirts/blouses and black trousers/skirts are both smart and competitively priced from Alston's, supermarkets and other suppliers.
Colin Stewart, head teacher of Hamilton Grammar, said: “We are all very excited about this positive move to improve our uniform and are confident it will help to promote a positive and inclusive ethos throughout the school.
“We ask all parents to support the school in ensuring that our pupils project a smart, very visible Hamilton Grammar look.”
Parents are advised to contact Mr Stewart at the school on 01698 285777 if they have any concerns or issues.
