Burned-out Ford is hazard in car park

CHILDREN were this week seen playing on a burnt-out car in a South Lanarkshire Council car park in Hamilton.

The burnt-out car has been in the Strathclyde Park Golf Course car park since last Saturday.

Golfers say they were shocked that the local authority had not appeared to have made an effort to move the dangerous vehicle.

One said: “I was at the club on Tuesday afternoon and came out and noticed some children playing on the car. It is a complete danger and there looks like there was some kind of oil underneath it.

“It is disgraceful that the car has not been taken away as this is an authority-run club and there are council staff down here nearly ever other day.”

The car was said to belong to the mother of Declan Hayes, who is pictured with a pal, above, examining it.

A spokesman for South Lanarkshire Council said: “We are aware of the car and have made arrangements to remove it once the police have completed their investigations.”
