TV’s Bargain Hunt filmed in county

A POPULAR daytime television show was filmed at a Lanarkshire garden centre yesterday (Wednesday).

Film crews from the BBC’s Bargain Hunt programme dropped in to the Garrion Bridges Garden Centre, Horsley Brae, Overtown, to get footage for the programme, which will be aired later this year.

The centre hosts a large antiques area and displays some of the hidden treasures of yesteryear.

The antiques centre has become popular with producers of the show, who filmed there twice previously.

The programme, which is presented by Tim Wonnacott, is a game show about buying and selling antiques for profit.

Two teams are given £300 and one hour to find the bargains. Each team buys three objects and sends them off to the auction house where they meet up again for the sale. The team who make most profit are the winners.

Jim Dalziel of Garrion Bridges Garden Centre said: “This is the third time in two years that Bargain Hunt has been filmed at the centre. It is really exciting that they have chosen the centre for a third time.

“We have a very large display of antiques and anyone interested in antiques really shouldn’t miss this place.

“The film crews have been at the centre from early this morning (Wednesday) and will be filming throughout the day.”

The family-run centre opened in September 2006 and is owned by Lynette Douglas
