A BLANTYRE man was remanded in custody after appearing in court on charges of assaulting a police officer and threatening him and his family with violence.
David Mackie, of Winton Crescent, denied a breach of the peace in a police vehicle travelling to Hamilton police office and at the office last Saturday.
He was said to have threatened detective constable Colin McLean with violence and stated that he would have the officer murdered.
It is further alleged that Mackie (32) said he would have the officer’s wife and children assaulted and his house petrol-bombed.
He also pleaded not guilty to a breach of the peace which stated that he conducted himself in a disorderly manner at the Stonefield Tavern, Glasgow Road, Blantyre, by shouting and swearing, also last Saturday.
Mackie further denied a charge of attempting to prevent his arrest by struggling violently with detective constable McLean and two colleagues in Glasgow Road, Blantyre, and in the police vehicle travelling to Hamilton.
All of the alleged offences were said to have taken place while Mackie was on bail on other matters.
At Hamilton Sheriff Court on Tuesday, Sheriff Rae Small set the trial date for May 12.
Sheriff Small refused Mackie bail and remanded him in custody meantime.
