Football festival is a winner

MORE than 200 youngsters took part in a top football festival in Hamilton last week.

The SFA-organised event was backed by South Lanarkshire Leisure and McDonalds in Hamilton. Schools who took part included St Mary’s Primary, Larkhall, St Bride’s Primary, Bothwell, Muiredge Primary, Uddingston, Lanark Primary and Biggar Primary.

Emma Griffiths, McDonalds Football Coordinator at South Lanarkshire Leisure Ltd, said it was the first time the event has ever taken place in South Lanarkshire.

McDonalds supplied bottled water and fruit and the youngsters later enjoyed a special treat at the revamped McDonalds Drive-Thru near Hamilton West Railway Station. Jack Glen, owner of the McDonalds franchise, said the event was a huge success.
