Lynn bids for dance Oscar
A COUNTY dance school teacher has been nominated for a prestigious ‘Oscar-style’ award.
Lynn Duncan, from Hamilton, who is director of the Lynn C Duncan School of Dance, has been shortlisted to the last three in the Carl Alan Awards.
The award, regarded as one of the most prestigious in the country, is presented for outstanding services to dance.
Lynn was nominated for the honour by the British Association of Teacher of Dancing (BATD) executive council.
Now the Lanarkshire dance teacher has been invited to attend a special awards ceremony in Hyde Park, London, this Sunday where she will find out if she has won.
Lionel Blair is hosting the event, and megastars such as Bruce Forsyth are expected to attend.
Lynn began dancing at the age of 14 and aged 17 qualified through the BATD.
She and husband Tony have been married for eight years. He has a car valet business. The couple have two children, daughter Mikhaila (14) who attends dance classes and seven-year-old son Sean, who keeps active in Tai Kwon Do.
Pupils of the dance school are now working towards their summer show, ‘Showtime 09‘, to be held in the Town House, Hamilton on Friday, June 5.
Classes such as tap, modern, ballet, free-style and cheerleading are available. There are also adult, beginners and advanced Salsa classes which start soon in Hamilton and Lanark
