Man denies champagne theft

A HAMILTON man this week denied stealing two bottles of champagne from the town’s Asda store.

George Crawley (54) of Wylie Street is alleged to have committed the offence while subject to a bail condition barring him from entering the store. He is said to have stolen the champagne last Thursday, December 18. He pleaded not guilty to theft and breach of bail charges when he appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court the following day.

Sheriff Vincent Smith set the trial date for January 15.
