Klick stores shut down

THE Hamilton branch of Klick/Munro is to close along with six of the group’s other Lanarkshire outlets.

All staff in the stores will be made redundant. If follows the announcement earlier this month that the owners of the photo processing and dry cleaning operation, Bowie Castlebank Ltd, had gone into receivership.

Shops will shut in Larkhall, Lanark, Uddingston, Motherwell, Wishaw and Airdrie following the sale of the business to the shoe repair and key cutting chain, the Timpson group.

The Blantyre store is one of only two in Scotland to remain open.

Joint administrator, Blair Nimmo of KPMG, said this week: “Despite our best efforts, there proved to be very little interest in the dry cleaning side of the business. Hence the reason for only two stores remaining open in Scotland.”

After the receivers moved in, customers reported difficulties in uplifting garments from Klick/Munro’s Hamilton branch in Quarry Street. A customer helpline was set up, but has proved difficult to access.
