Ruth has arts festival prize all wrapped up

SOUTH Lanarkshire’s amateur and professional artists, sculptors, potters and poets, together with people who work in ceramics, jewellery, textiles or crafts, went along to Chatelherault Country Park for the launch of the Chatelherault Arts Festival.

The festival was the perfect opportunity for people living in South Lanarkshire to present work which had not previously been shown in the area.

It also encouraged new artists to display works.

A panel of judges from the Scottish Arts Council selected the winner of this year's competition.

The award went to Ruth Georgina Hinks from Dunsyre, whose porcelain piece was entitled "Yay - Bubblewrap".

There was also an opportunity for all visitors to the exhibition to vote for their particular favourite in the People's Choice award and the winner was Leigh Watt, from Lesmahagow, with her pastel drawing entitled ‘I Do’.
