A FESTIVE crowd gathered in Hamilton town centre on Sunday for this year’s big Christmas lights switch on.
After being entertained by a fun-packed programme of events, the excited crowd watched Santa and South Lanarkshire Provost Russell Clearie flick the switch around 5pm.
During the afternoon, hosted by L107 shock jock Scottie McClue, adults and kids enjoyed the spectacle organised by the council, which featured a laser light show and fire act.
It also included 8ft-tall illuminated stilt-walking fairies, a Victorian-style family entertainer who walks on a giant 6ft ball, juggles, and appears in a variety of guises.
The Elaine Wedlock School of Dance also gave a performance, along with Proclaimers tribute act the Proclaymores and Abba tribute act Abba Cadabra.
