AN MSP is calling for NHS Lanarkshire to be a candidate for pilot board elections, recently announced by the Scottish Government.
Central Scotland MSP Alex Neil has written to health secretary Nicola Sturgeon asking her to consider NHS Lanarkshire as a candidate for the pilot elections proposed to run from 2010.
"Given the fiasco over Monklands A&E, where the NHS Lanarkshire board clearly acted outwith public wishes, I would suggest Lanarkshire would be an ideal candidate,” he said.
"Accountability, transparency and creating a greater sense of public ownership are the aims of the pilot.
“Following the A&E debacle, Lanarkshire would certainly benefit from this pilot.”
