Former Daks Simpson site is back on open market

THE former DAKS Simpson site is again up for sale.

The manufacturing complex in Carlisle Road is being marketed by international property consultants King Struge.

The site offers potential buyers a major development opportunity.

Douglas Patrick, Industrial Partner of King Sturge said: “This is an interesting instruction, with the opportunity for a mixed-use development.”

The property is situated in the Strutherhill Industrial Estate, which is located on the southern edge of the town.

The buildings provide a series of interlinked blocks extending to 29,705 sq m (319,738 sq ft), with areas of hard standing and car parking on a site of some 7.36 hectares (18.17 acres).

The property requires extensive refurbishment although interested parties may assume a complete redevelopment of the site for a potential new mixed use opportunity subject to the requisite planning and building warrant approvals.

The DAKS Simpson facility had been at Larkhall since 1941, manufacturing a range of high quality clothing under the DAKS label.

The factory finally closed in March 2002, due to a shortage of orders.
