Witness plea after man is stabbed in Burnbank

A MAN was stabbed and his partner was hit over the head with a bottle during a vicious attack in Hamilton.

The young couple were assaulted in Glenlee Street, Burnbank, on Sunday at 11.35pm.

It is believed the 28-year-old man and 25-year-old

woman were making their way to a takeway in nearby Glasgow Road when the two attackers pounced.

The victims were both taken to Wishaw General Hospital where they were treated for their injuries.

One of the the attackers was described as wearing a blue T-shirt and dark jeans.

The other is described as wearing a white hooded top.

A police spokeswoman said: “We are appealing for witnesses regarding this incident.

“The public can help us by letting us know if they saw or heard anything in Glenlee Street at around the time of the attack.”

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, police were hunting three men after a man was attacked on a footbridge.

The 35-year-old was assaulted in Station Road, Blantyre, on Sunday at about 5pm.

It is believed there was an argument between the victim and his attackers in Station Road, near the David Livingstone Memorial.

Following the savage attack, the man was taken to Hairmyres Hospital suffering from serious head injuries.

One of the attackers was described as wearing a green top and black trousers.

A police spokeswoman appealed for witnesses to the attack.

She said: “We have no information on the motive for this attack and our enquiries are ongoing.”
