THE West of Scotland Guide Dogs team have been visiting Hamilton to celebrate Guide Dog Week 2008, which runs until Sunday, October 12.
The team will be out in force in the Regent Shopping Centre in Hamilton tomorrow, (Friday), and Saturday. The team will be supporting Guide Dogs' national campaign, educating local people and service providers in how to provide sighted guiding assistance to a person with sight loss, by handing out a How to Guide booklet and DVD.
Terry Thorpe, district team manager of Guide Dogs in the West of Scotland, said: “As with many towns and cities across the United Kingdom, Hamilton is an increasingly busy and complex environment for blind and partially sighted people to safely negotiate.
"We hope to make many local people and service providers aware of the importance of being able to confidently provide sighted guide assistance to a person with sight loss who needs a helping hand.”
