A BLANTYRE man has been jailed for 40 days after breaching his ASBO.
Neil Barkey (63), of Hillview Drive, was caged for committing a breach of the peace on September 2.
He admitted shouting and swearing outside his Blantyre home.
It is understood Barkey took issue with neighbours parking their car outside his house in Hillview Drive.
The offence was committed while Barkey was on an interim anti-social behaviour order, granted at Hamilton Sheriff Court on July 22 this year.
On September 3, a full ASBO was imposed on Barkey. The order will be in force for the next three years.
The following day, September 4, Barkey admitted the Hillview Drive breach of the peace when he appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court.
Sheriff Danny Scullion detained him in custody on that date before sentencing him last week at Hamilton Sheriff Court.
Barkey’s ASBO states that he must not “shout or and swear, verbally abuse, threaten or assault any person and thereby put them into a state of fear, alarm and distress” while he is in Blantyre.
Barkey must also refrain from damaging any property which belongs to another person.
According to court documents, Barkey was released from Barlinnie Prison on July 21.
He had been serving a 14-month jail sentence he received in January for a string of assaults.
Amongst the offences, he was convicted of spitting on a doctor and punching a nurse at the Accident and Emergency department of Hairmyres Hospital.
Barkey is currently banned from a number of shops in the Blantyre area.
He has convictions for spitting on a shop assistant in the Spar store in Coatshill Avenue and has admitted shouting homophobic remarks and racist remarks to other shop workers in the town.
