A CAMPAIGN has been launched to attract to Lanarkshire tourists from the north-west of England

Key attractions and accommodation providers will be working on the initiative alongside North and South Lanarkshire councils.

The chairman of South Lanarkshire Council enterprise resources committee, Chris Thompson, said: “We are interested in targeting the north west of England as this is an accessible region, within easy reach of Lanarkshire and with good road access.

“This is a new market for Lanarkshire, where limited marketing activity has been undertaken by Lanarkshire operators.”
