Trading Standards team swoop at Accies match

A STREET trader is likely to be reported to the Procurator Fiscal following an operation involving Trading Standards officers at the Scottish Premier League match between Hamilton and Hearts at New Douglas Park last weekend.

The operation, which also involved Strathclyde Police, saw a variety of suspected counterfeit scarves and shirts seized when officers swooped.

It was part of Trading Standards' commitment to tackling copyright and trademark crime.

South Lanarkshire Trading Standards manager Peter Sherry said: "We are working closely with our police partners and trademark holders to ensure that consumers and legitimate businesses do not suffer as a result of unlicensed and illegal street trading.

"Further operations at the Accies Stadium will take place throughout the season to ensure Intellectual Property and Licensing legislation is complied with".
