ANIMAL-MAD youngsters can learn more about pets by enrolling in a ‘Pets Plus’ course at the Scottish SPCA’s Lanarkshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Hamilton.
The course is available to children aged 9-12 and will take place at the Bothwell Road centre every Tuesday for six weeks, starting on September 2 and running until October 7, from 5-6.30pm.
Youngsters can meet the animals, learn more about the work of the Scottish SPCA and current animal issues, and take part in quizzes and games.
However, due to demand, places must be booked in advance.
Scottish SPCA’s education officer Lindsey Cowie said: “Not only will youngsters have the opportunity to learn about the work of the centre and see the animals, but ‘Pets Plus’ also covers all aspects of the Scottish SPCA’s duties.
“As the only Scotland-wide animal welfare charity, our inspectors deal with cruelty and neglect cases from all over the country.
“This course will give youngsters the chance to learn about pet care and welfare, plus a whole lot more.”
Cost of the course is £20. To join, call the Scottish SPCA’s education department on 03000 999 999.
