Hamilton Chefs roll out the barrel

MORE than 50 people took part in a weekend barrel race, the first of its kind held in Hamilton, to raise money for charity.

Tutti Tuscan Grille organised the race, an annual tradition in Montepulciano, Tuscany, Italy, which sees the new season's wine rolled across the town square.

Hilary Collins, for Tutti Grille, said: “Tutti's chefs are inspired by Tuscan cuisine, so they thought why not have a go themselves and support the local community.”

The money raised, which is still to be counted, will be presented to the Airdrie-based charity St Andrew’s Hospice.

Winner of the barrel race in 26.6 seconds was Percy (20), from Blantyre.
