George Elliott (69), from Hamilton, said: “Although I don’t drive, I have noticed delays when travelling on the local bus service. The drivers can’t help the delays, but people see this as a big problem because they are often in a rush to get from A to B.”
Murdo Grant (70), from Burnbank, said: “I have not had much trouble with the roads because I’ve been making an effort to use alternative routes. I think people need to understand that things like work on gas mains is a priority, even if it does cause delays.”
Isobel Grant (71), of Hamilton, said: “I think roadworks are just something we have to put up with. Personally, I would be glad to see more work being done if it means some of the roads are repaired. Some are in a terrible state.”
Lesley Muir (46), from Carluke, said: “I travel into Hamilton for work and I haven’t been affected at all. I would say that sometimes there seems to be a lack of communication though, because often there are lots of roadworks going on at the same time, which obviously causes more problems than if they are done in stages.”
