Helpline for families

LANARKSHIRE parents and carers with problem kids have a new source of advice.

Leaflets are being distributed to nurseries, schools, libraries, doctor’s surgeries and other venues that make parents and carers aware of a new helpline, ParentLine Scotland, on 0800 800 2222.

The free, confidential helpline is run by the charity Children 1st, formerly the Royal Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. It takes around 10,000 calls a year but the charity want to help even more parents and carers.

The lines are open between 9am and 5pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and from 9am till 9pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Common reasons for contacting the helpline include challenging or demanding behaviour, bullying, family relationships and problems relating to parental separation and contact.
