SPCA planning to build ‘mum and pup’ kennels

A PLANNING application has been lodged on behalf of the Scottish SPCA in Hamilton to build new ‘mother and pup’ kennels and a roofed exercise area.

The Lanarkshire Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Bothwell Road hopes to double the size of the current exercise run to accommodate more dogs.

With the development of the new run, the centre even hope to hold small-scale dog training sessions.

The new mother and puppies section will have five new kennels with indoor space and outdoor runs, meaning the centre will be better equipped to look after dogs expecting pups.

The centre’s manager, Michael Prewett, said: “The idea behind these particular alterations is to make the centre more accessible to the public.”
