Rotarians receive a visit from African chief

AN African chief visited Bothwell and Uddingston Rotary Club recently to thank the organisation for collecting bikes to send to Ghana.

A total of 130 bikes have been sent to Sissala in the north west of the country by the group.

The chief, Suleman Chebe, came to Scotland 10 years ago after meeting his wife while she was teaching there with Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO).

He is the founder of Lasajang, a community project which supports rural farming communities in Sissala .

The club also presented Suleman with a £600 cheque during his visit to help with transportation costs.

Musician Suleman also instructed volunteers in African drumming before playing a xylophone made from wooden slats and different sizes of tuned gourds.
