HAMILTON South MSP Tom McCabe this week hit out as the Scottish Government cut South Lanarkshire’s affordable housing budget.
A Scottish Government response to a parliamentary question from Mr McCabe revealed that the amount allocated to South Lanarkshire for 2008-2009, which includes the Housing Association Grant, was £15.3m.
The figure represents a drop of more than 20 per cent from the 2007-2008 figure of £19.3m and Mr McCabe commented: “Having a place to live is one of the basics and 20 per cent cuts in funding for affordable housing will hurt people in our area.”
