Man is rescued after car bursts into flames in crash with tree

A MAN was last week taken to Wishaw General Hospital after his car hit a tree and burst into flames.

The accident happened at the new section of Larkhall Cemetery, Station Road, at about 11.30pm last Monday (July 14).

Inspector Russell Lockhart from Hamilton police office, said: “Officers attended the scene after a report came in saying a vehicle had crashed into the railings at the cemetery.

“The vehicle subsequently caught fire.”

Inspector Lockhart confirmed that the car, a 2007 Vauxhall Astra, had not been stolen.

The man’s injuries are not thought to be serious.
