Diesel thefts warning

POLICE this week have highlighted a number of thefts of diesel fuel from goods vehicles in the Bellshill area.

Those responsible have been entering company yards and siphoning the fuel from lorries.

Constable Alan Wylie, of Viewpark police station, said: “I would urge logistics companies to ensure that their drivers are parking their vehicles in well lit and, if possible, secure areas.

“It would be advisable for the tractor units to be parked in an area where CCTV coverage is available to ensure adequate security.”
