Bon Marche staff complete sponsored walk

STAFF from the Bon Marche store in Hamilton’s New Cross Centre last week completed a sponsored walk around Strathclyde Park with family and friends to help charity.

Bon Marche staff pledged to raise £1000 for the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society, after area manager Sean Casey and his wife Susan lost their daughter Ciara, who was stillborn on April 13, 2003.

The couple have promised to raise £40,000 for the charity.

During their 8.6km sponsored walk, the staff raised £597, and a further £100 was added to the increasing total in their 1p-a-day for May task.

So far the staff and their families and friends have raised £927 of the £1000 target.

Sandra Paterson, sales assistant, said: “Even although we are now just about to reach the £1000 target, we will continue beyond that figure and secure as much money as we can for the charity on an ongoing basis.”
